Hello Everyone!
August was a quieter month here at St. Joseph’s Shelf. The break was good for our team of writers, I think. Besides, I very much enjoyed writing several passing musings, mostly based on insights picked up from homilies and talks. It’s nice when God just dumps the material for articles into your lap.
With the arrival of September, we’re ready to resume our twice weekly posting schedule with a series on cultivating a deeper prayer life. Readers offered some great ideas for articles in this series. Some topics suggested include: the role of the elderly and the homebound, where to turn for human support for help with your spiritual life, and the issue of avoiding distractions during prayer. Thank you for these suggestions! I never would have thought of them, and believe me, you’ve gotten my mind churning with ideas (a fantastic feeling for a writer). Stay tuned for upcoming articles on these and other topics.
Last of all, we have the October poll posted. It’s up now through September 9th. Options include the Human Body in Theology, Relationships between Men and Women, and Readers’ Choice (i.e., you submit requests for topics you’d like us to write about.) Weigh in now with your say! Your feedback is anonymous and greatly appreciated.
Thank you, as always, for partaking in the apostolate of St. Joseph’s Shelf. Have a blessed September!

Music set on loop keeps her energy flowing as she muses on the deeper happenings of ordinary life and what food to restock the fridge with.
